- It is our aim that the judging be fair and consistent across the board. However, due to the fact that some aspects of judging are a matter of opinion there may be situations that arise in which teams feel that the calls are wrong or unfair.
- The following guidelines are for both contestants and judges and are provided to make the scoring as consistent as possible. While a system is in place to settle disputes not everybody is going to be satisfied with the results and it is our hope that everybody realize that this is all part of the nature of Rodeo.
- We hope everybody has a good time and welcome any suggestions that could improve future Rodeos.
- There will be a thirty five team limit on journeyman and a thirty team limit on apprentice events. This will be filled on a first come basis. However, sign ups on the day of the rodeo will be accepted if there are available spaces or no shows.
Apprentice
Each team will consist of two apprentices of any level who in each event will alternate tasks. Single apprentices may pair up to compete on the day of the Rodeo but no apprentices will be allowed to compete individually.
Journeyman
Each team will consist of two journeymen and one groundman. The groundman may be supervisory level or below but he can only compete as a groundman and may not rotate with his team members in events. Any attempt to do so will result in disqualification.
NOTE: Apprentices can only compete on one team. i.e. They are not allowed to compete as a groundman on a journeyman team and then compete in the apprentice events.
TEAM Numbers 1 – 35 JOURNEYMAN TEAMS
TEAM Numbers 101 – 130 APPRENTICE TEAMS
- Each event will be worth a total of 100 points. Points will be deducted in either 2 or 10 point increments depending on the infraction. Deductions in the speed events i.e. hurtman rescue and pole climb will not be averaged for the team as in the past. Thus a 2-point deduction for one team member will result in 2-point deduction for the team.
- The overall winner of the Rodeo will be the team with the least amount of deductions. In the event of a tie the winner will be decided by the lowest overall time.
- Each team will pick up their scoring package at registration and will present score sheets at each event. Score sheets will consist of an original that will remain with the judges and a copy that remains with the team.
- Judges will have additional score sheets in the event a team loses its score sheet prior to the event. However, once the team has been scored it is the team’s responsibility to save the copy for future verification of scores or if the original is lost. Teams will not be allowed to redo an event if the original score sheet is lost, they will receive a 0 score.
- In the event that a team goes beyond the mean time they will receive a 2-point deduction. There will be a “drop dead” time five minutes after the mean time. If a team goes beyond the drop dead time, the event will be stopped and the team will restore the construction to its original condition. At this point the team will receive an additional 2-point deduction and the drop dead time.
- The Rodeo is scheduled to finish at 2.00pm. Any team with uncompleted events at this time will receive 0 scores. To assist in teams in finishing under the set time each event station will keep track of the teams that have competed and periodic announcements will alert teams if they need to finish events.
